Online Pre-Paid Parking Option: For visitors who wish to pre-pay for parking online, a select number of premium parking spaces will be available at Hillman, Gotts, and Knighton Garages. Reserve your parking space for at www.AnnapolisParking.com, selecting the garage of your choice, clicking “Buy Daily Parking.”

Navy-Marine Corps Stadium & City Garages: As always, visitors can park at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium and take a shuttle downtown. More details available at http://www.annapolisboatshows.com/united-states-sailboat-show/plan-your-visit/directions-accommodations. Visitors can also explore city-owned parking options at www.annapolisparking.com.

Resident Only Parking: The city will reserve areas of select residential streets for resident-only parking. These areas will be clearly marked with signage. Affected streets are:

Free Garage: Visitors may find free parking at the State Garage (aka Calvert Street Garage) after 6 pm Monday-Friday and all weekend.

Parking Utilization Study Completed

The final draft of the Annapolis Parking Utilization Study has been submitted to the City of Annapolis. The study gives Annapolis a significantly more accurate, block-by-block understanding of its parking assets and occupancy trends and makes policy recommendations. The policy recommendations cannot be implemented without approval from city government.

The city in 2016 directed SP+ to conduct this analysis as part of the Administration’s efforts to help make parking more convenient for all.

The study can be viewed by clicking below.

Temporary Guest Parking Permits Now Available Online

Annapolis Mayor Michael Pantelides announces that temporary guest parking permits are now available for purchase online.

“This new innovation is one more way we are making city life more convenient for residents and their guests,” said Mayor Pantelides. “Rather than requiring residents to pick up temporary guest parking permits at the Hillman Garage, they can now go online to purchase and print the permits or just email them from wherever they are.”

Residents who have already provided documentation establishing residency through the annual permit purchase process do not need to provide this documentation again when purchasing temporary guest permits. Residents who wish to continue purchasing temporary permits in person are welcome to do so.

Individuals can simply login to their account, proceed through the process, select a temporary permit, and enter the dates for which the permit is to be used. Residents who live within one of the five Special Residential Parking Districts, but do not have an annual permit, may purchase temporary permits as well. They will need to provide documentation to support their residency in similar fashion to those with an annual permit. Go to annapolisparking.com and click on Residential Permits.

Once a temporary guest permit has been purchased online, it must be printed and placed on the guest’s vehicle dashboard so that parking ambassadors can scan the barcode.

To assist residents, Annapolis Parking professionals are available to provide in-person, step-by-step tutorials at the Noah Hillman Garage at 150 Gorman Street. The purchasing portal utilizes encrypted “SSL” technology to protect customer data during the purchasing process. Residents with questions may contact Annapolis Parking at (443)648-3087 or annapolisparking@spplus.com for assistance.

Circulator Free as of July 1 – Getting Around Downtown Just Got Easier!

Annapolis Mayor Michael Pantelides reminds residents that the Circulator is free, effective July 1st and a newly-rebranded Circulator will debut just before the July 4th holiday weekend. The new Ford E-450 comfortably seats 24 passengers, is wheelchair accessible, and is custom wrapped in a beautiful picture of the Annapolis skyline.

“Making the Circulator more convenient and accessible has been a priority of mine,” said Mayor Pantelides. “By making the Circulator free, rebranding it, and introducing the Circulator app, we are giving riders what they asked for along with a quality service.”

Residents and visitors can track the Circulator’s location in real-time by downloading the “RLS Shuttle” app on their smartphone and clicking “Annapolis.

The Circulator travels along a 2.1 mile loop from Westgate Circle to Memorial Circle at the base of Main Street. It accommodates residents who park in the city garages and is an efficient form of transportation to the downtown area. The Circulator travels along West Street, around Church Circle, down Duke of Gloucester Street, up Main Street, and back around.

Residential Parking Permit Registration Now Open

Mayor Michael Pantelides announced that the 2017 Residential Parking Permit registration period begins effective immediately.

SP+, the city’s comprehensive parking management firm, encourages residents to save time by purchasing their annual permits via a secure online portal at www.AnnapolisParking.com.

“The best way for residents to avoid the registration line is to go online,” said Mayor Michael Pantelides. “Still, residents who are unable or unwilling to purchase their permit online may call SP+ for assistance in securing their permit.”

“For 2017, we have made several backend technological improvements that will make the purchasing process easier for residents,” said Jon Kemp, regional manager for SP+.  “We are grateful to residents in each parking district for their feedback over the past year on how the RPP process can best meet their needs.”

Residents will be mailed their new RPP sticker shortly after their purchase. There are no changes to permit prices and all major credit cards are accepted. Proof of residency is required. For complete details and to purchase a permit for a zoned district, visit http://www.annapolisparking.com/residential-parking/residential-parking-permit-program

The purchasing portal on www.AnnapolisParking.com utilizes encrypted “SSL” technology to protect customer data during the purchasing process. Residents with questions are encouraged to contact SP+ at (443) 648-3087 or annapolisparking@spplus.com for additional information.

Naval Academy Commissioning Week is one the most exciting weeks of the year in Annapolis, which means you can expect big crowds. To make parking more convenient for all, we compiled a few tips visitors should “know before they go” to downtown Annapolis.

To avoid the crowds, park at the Knighton or Park Place Garage: The Knighton Garage (find it here) and the Park Place Garage (find it here) are less expensive than other garages while still being no more than a mile from the Naval Academy. Both garages are served by the Circulator Shuttle so you can comfortably get downtown without breaking a sweat.

Calvert Street Garage is the Best Kept Secret in Town: Beginning at 6PM on weekdays – and all weekend – parking is free at the State Garage/Calvert Street Garage (find it here). The Calvert Street Garage is less than half a mile from the Naval Academy.

Find the Circulator Shuttle From Your Phone: The Circulator is a comfortable and convenient way to get around town. Simply download the free “RLS Shuttle” to your phone from your app store and click “Annapolis” to track the Circulator’s location in real-time.

Hillman Garage, City Dock, and On-Street Parking Are Available: Noah Hillman Garage, City Dock Lot, and on-street meters are closest to the Naval Academy, but can fill up fast. Be sure to “know before you go” by visiting www.AnnapolisParking.com or calling (443) 648-3087 to check out your parking options for Navy Commissioning Week.

Meeting to Discuss the Parking Utilization Analysis

SP+ will host with the Ward One Residents Association and Downtown Annapolis Partnership a meeting to discuss the Park Utilization Analysis report, which was based on a draft parking study on the city’s overall parking experience. At the meeting, the team will speak about and answer questions pertaining to their findings and recommendations.

Date: March 28, 2017
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: City Council Chambers, City Hall, Annapolis, MD

SP+ Completes Draft Study to Improve Annapolis Parking

Annapolis, MD (2-22-2017) – SP+, comprehensive parking management firm for the City of Annapolis, this week delivered a draft parking study to Mayor Mike Pantelides that assesses downtown parking assets and occupancy rates and offers recommendations to improve the city’s overall parking experience.

“The draft study’s goal is to give Annapolis an accurate, block-by-block understanding of its parking assets and occupancy trends,” said Jon Kemp, SP+ regional manager. “The Pantelides Administration and City Council deserve credit for wanting a truly holistic view of downtown parking so that we can better meet the needs of those who live, work and visit this great city.”

The study focused on parking districts 1, 2 and 3. Districts 4 and 5 will be included in a final draft that will be submitted in June. SP+ will discuss the draft at a community meeting hosted by Alderman Joe Budge at City Hall Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.

Recommendations in the study include:

Expand on-street meter hours to meet customer demand. Currently, meters are enforced from 10 AM to 7 PM seven days per week. The study recommends changing those hours to:

  • Monday-Thursday 8 AM – 9 PM
  • Friday-Saturday 8 AM – 12 AM
  • Sunday 12 PM – 12AM

Modernize on-street rate structure to better serve customers with different needs. Along with expanding on-street meter hours, the study recommends a graduated rate structure at on-street meters. This would accommodate customers who are willing to pay a premium to park at meters for longer periods of time.

Expand pay parking. Implement pay parking in the most high demand residential areas adjacent to Main Street, West Street, Maryland Avenue, Prince George Street and State Circle while preserving the existing two hour time limit in those areas. Rather than installing meters at these locations, the study recommends using a mobile payment system such as Parkmobile that would only require only additional signage.

Promote Business & Employee Parking Options. To meet the needs of downtown businesses and their employees, SP+ has begun offering discounted parking packages for downtown businesses and their employees that include: evening discounts at Gotts and Knighton garages, and weekday, evening, monthly and validation programs for Noah Hillman garage. Businesses are encouraged to contact SP+ at (443) 648-3087.

Make the Circulator More Business Friendly: The study recommends adjusting Circulator hours to accommodate employees working later hours, adjusting the circulator route to accommodate consumer needs and exploring whether the current $1 fee remains feasible.

The study can be viewed by clicking below.

New Year’s Eve: Know Before You Go

Annapolis Mayor Michael Pantelides invites everyone to the 2017 Annapolis New Year’s Celebration and reminds all visitors to “Know Before You Go!” There are several new things this year that Mayor Pantelides wants you to about before you head to Annapolis to bring in 2017.

  • First, you need to know there is a new location for the kid’s New Year’s Eve Events. The early family-friendly fireworks experience will be relocated to Weems Whalen field this year, located behind Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and Bates Middle School. This will give more spaces for the children’s activities and playtime. The activities will start at 3 p.m. and will include live music by local teen bands from the Lee Priddy Music Academy, face painting, a moon bounce, and a 65 ft. obstacle course.
  • Second, you need to know the first of two firework shows will take place at Weems Whalen field at 5:30 p.m. with a free Circulator Shuttle running to and from the Park Place Garage.
  • Third, you need to know there will be free parking in Park Place Garage from 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 31 until Sunday, January 1 at 2 a.m. Standard rates will apply at the other three City garages.
  • Fourth, you need to know that you can now reserve a parking spot for a 12% convenience fee in the Hillman, Gotts, and Knighton Garages by using a secure online transaction at http://www.AnnapolisParking.com.
  • Fifth, you need to know that two free Circulator shuttles will run from 2 p.m. Saturday, December 31 until 2 a.m. on January 1. From 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the Circulator Shuttle will provide a continuous route between Park Place and Maryland Hall (Chase Street) to offer transportation for the children’s event at Weems Whalen Field. The other Circulator Shuttle will make a continuous loop from Park Place to Church Circle, dropping off and picking up passengers at the top of Main Street. After 6:30 p.m. both Circulator Shuttles will be dedicated to the Park Place-Church Circle loop.
  • Sixth, you need to know that you can download a free app that enables you to track the Circulator’s location in real-time and get estimated arrival times for upcoming stops. The mobile app is available in both iOS and Android app stores at no charge. Simply download the app named “RLS Shuttle” and select “Annapolis Circulator” to start tracking the shuttle.

Just like last year, the City Dock New Year’s Eve events start to come alive around 8 p.m. The evening will be filled with music down by Susan Campbell Park with DJ starting at 8 p.m. followed by the fun, high energy dance band Radio City from 9 p.m. to midnight. At midnight the countdown fireworks grand finale takes place to welcome in the New Year led by Mayor Pantelides.

Here are a few reminders if coming into town by vehicle or boat:

  • No shuttle service will be offered to the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
  • There will not be any parking restrictions specifically related to New Year’s Eve. However, please be sure to adhere to all residential parking signs to avoid tickets, fines, or towing. Also remember, the free three hour parking is only for three hours.
  • Because of the anticipated crowded conditions, boaters are urged to select their preferred viewing-area anchorage early and are also warned to avoid the 1,000-foot safety zone around the fireworks barge.

Please note: Immediately after the fireworks, the barge will be underway to clear the harbor. All boaters are urged to heed the instructions of safety and law enforcement officials including the U.S. Coast Guard, the Department of Natural Resources Police, the Annapolis Police, the Annapolis Fire Department, the Annapolis Harbormaster and others.

Remember, this is an alcohol free event. If you would like to celebrate with alcohol, please visit one of our wonderful local bars, restaurants or hotels. If you are attending New Year’s Eve celebrations anywhere in the area, please drink responsibly and utilize designated drivers.
